Hey, I’m Zowie!

I’m an environmental educator with a career spent with the Forest Service, National Park Service, and nonprofit environmental education world. I’ve always loved spending time outside and finding ways to help protect the natural world through teaching others.

SewZowie grew out of my love for fashion, sustainability, and sewing. After tearing my MCL in January 2026, I decided to go all in on sewing and spent my recovery time experimenting with ways to give clothing and textiles a second life.

I primarily work with pieces that have already been in circulation—secondhand clothing, vintage textiles, and fabrics that might otherwise be overlooked. I also receive many fabric donations, which means I’m constantly working with a wonderfully unpredictable collection of materials.

Every SewZowie piece is made with the belief that something old can become something new, useful, and uniquely yours. I love the challenge of working with what already exists and creating pieces that feel personal, practical, and a little bit unexpected. All pieces are one of one so they really will be uniquely yours :-)
